Welcome to Year 6
Teachers: The adults working in Y6 are: Mrs Allen, Mrs Atkinson, Mrs Gibson and Mrs Henderson
Mrs Gibson will cover Mrs Allen's management time on a Friday morning and will be teaching the children arithmetic and SPaG (spelling, punctuation and grammar).
Ash will be in class every Wednesday teaching PE.
The deputy head teacher, Mrs Thornton, will also be in Y6 every alternate Tuesday teaching French, Music and PE
Project information to follow shortly......
This year we have introduced a new spelling scheme called Spelling Shed. Every Friday, children will be tested on their spellings and be given new spellings for the following week. These spellings can then be practised by playing games online and earning points.
Your child's Spelling Shed login can be found in the first page of their reading record.
Reading is still a key part of our curriculum and children can now take school reading books home with them.
Even though your child is in Y6, listening to them read is still as important as ever as it helps them to improve their fluency and intonation when reading.
Please listen to your child read at least three times a week and then fill in an entry of their reading record.
Children should come into school wearing their PE kit on PE days.
Y6 have PE every Wednesday with Ash
every other Tuesday with Mrs Thornton.
We will be using Seesaw again this year to set work for children and as a link between school and home so teachers and parents/carers can communicate easily with one another. Parents/carers can also access Seesaw to see some of the work that the children have been completing during lesson time.
Please let school know if you are struggling to connect to Seesaw so we can help you with this.
